Surgeson carson Associates, Inc., Gives Back to The Community Through Sponsorship of the Ottawa-Based Serenity Renewal for Families Organization

Surgeson carson Associates, Inc., leading Trustees in Ottawa Bankruptcy and Silver Sponsor of Serenity Renewal for Families (SRF), recently sponsored the organizations Annual Gala Celebration on November 9th at the Helenic Centre.

Serenity Renewal for Families, an Ottawa-based mental health education and counseling organization, provides education and counseling services to individuals, directly or indirectly, affected by addictions or mental health issues. The organization, founded in 1983, by Sister Louise Dunn, CND, and Alexa Smith to serve family members of individuals affected by addictions and addictive behaviors, serves more than 2,500 individuals and their families each year, and has more than 125 volunteers and more than 250 healthcare providers participating in the organizations annual programs.

The work of Serenity Renewal for Families hits close to home for me, I have been in recovery for over 16 years. More times than not there are resources for the alcoholic or addict but not the families who are adversely, and sometimes permanently, affected by the illness, said Michael Carson, Trustee in Bankruptcy and founder of Surgeson Carson Associates. Serenity Renewal for Families provides the necessary resources so that the entire family can begin the journey of healing.

In addition to Surgeson Carsons annual sponsorship, the firm was a silver sponsor of SRFs Annual Gala Celebration, held in early November in Ottawa. Participating in this event and seeing the enthusiasm and support for SRFs work in the community is truly inspiring, added Carson. My participation and our firms involvement with SRF is simply a way for us give back to the community and support something that I believe is essential to anyone who is recovering from an addiction.
