Woman, 72, dies in house fire in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley

SOMERSET, N.S.— A 72-year-old woman has died in a house fire in a small rural community in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley.

RCMP say officers responded to the call at 6:30 a.m. Thursday on West Steadman Road in Somerset, N.S., 20 kilometres west of Kentville.

Paramedics confirm a woman from the small community was found dead inside the home.

Mounties are working with the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service to determine what caused the blaze.

They say the matter remains under investigation.
